Terrianne Benedetto
Terrianne Benedetto is an associate with the firm in its Philadelphia office. She concentrates her practice in the areas of complex commercial and class action litigation, including consumer protection, antitrust, products liability and securities litigation.
Ms. Benedetto has extensive experience in both personal injury and commercial litigation. Beginning in private practice in 1991, she has represented plaintiffs and defendants in jury and non-jury trials in personal injury cases in both state and federal courts.
Ms. Benedetto has been practicing in the area of complex commercial class action litigation since 1995. She began her career as a complex litigator defending against class action lawsuits in environmental and insurance matters. She was effective in utilizing computer databases in her work and authored Database Technology: A Valuable Tool for Defeating Class Action Certification, which was published in both the Pennsylvania Law Weekly, Vol. XX, No. 47, p.13 (Nov. 24, 1997) and in Mealey?s Litigation Report: Lead, Vol. 7, #14 (Apr. 24, 1998). She was co-counsel for the defendants in Dombrowski v. Gould Electronics Inc., 954 F. Supp. 1006 (M.D. Pa. 1996), Reilly v. Gould Inc., 965 F. Supp. 588 (M.D. Pa. 1997) and Ascher v. Pennsylvania Ins. Guar. Ass?n, 722 A.2d 1078 (Pa. Super. 1998).
Thereafter, Ms. Benedetto became involved in complex litigation on behalf of plaintiff classes at a nationally recognized class action/complex litigation firm, where she headed up one of the firms antitrust litigation units. She later became affiliated with another nationally recognized law firm, representing classes of consumers, as well as the Office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in consumer fraud cases.
Ms. Benedetto has been involved in numerous class action cases on behalf of plaintiffs, many of which resulted in multi-million dollar settlements. Among these, Ms. Benedetto has participated in the following actions: In re Lupron Marketing and Sales Practices Litig., MDL No. 1430 (D. Mass.); In re Pharmaceutical Industry Average Wholesale Price Litig., MDL No. 1456 (D. Mass.); In re Graphite Electrodes Antitrust Litigation, No. 2:97-CV-4182 (E.D. Pa.); In re Magnetic Audiotape Antitrust Litigation, No. 99-CIV-1580 (S.D.N.Y); In re Vitamins Antitrust Litigation, MDL No. 1285 (D.D.C.), In re Maltol Antitrust Litigation, No. 99-CIV-5931 (S.D.N.Y.); In re Compact Disc Antitrust Litigation, MDL No. 1216 (C.D. Cal.); In re Flat Glass Antitrust Litigation, MDL No. 1200 (W.D. Pa); In re Carpet Antitrust Litigation, MDL No. 1075 (N.D. Ga). Ms. Benedetto was involved in the discovery phases of each of these class action cases, and, up through the eve of trial respecting one of them.
Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Benedetto served as law clerk to the Honorable Jacob Kalish of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and the Honorable William W. Vogel of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.
Ms. Benedetto graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in mathematics. In 1990, she earned her law degree from Villanova University, where she was a staff member of the Villanova Law Review. She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of New Jersey, and the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the Western District of Wisconsin.
