HP DV9000 Notebooks have been cracking at the hinge or hinges that attach the laptop monitor to the body of the computer, with reports of cracking at the left hinge close to the security hole causing difficulties in opening or closing the laptop. This cracking can also cause the exterior casing of the laptop to separate from the computer.
