Multimedia projectors have been growing in popularity in recent years, the large screen size and flexible positioning of projectors have been seen as a positive feature for their use as in home cinema displays or TV displays. Sharp DLP Projectors claim their bulbs last between 2,000 to 3,000 hours. Many consumers have found that this number grossly overestimates the service life of the projector bulbs. Projector bulbs are very expensive to replace, and in many cases the cost to replace and repair a projector after the bulb has blown exceeds the cost of buying a new projector.
