Kugel Mesh Patch

Seeger Weiss LLP is investigating claims involving the Davol/Bard Composix Kugel Mesh Patch. The patch is used for the repair of ventral hernias.

In January 2007, the Food and Drug Administration advised patients of a defect of this device’s memory recoil ring, which can break. If the ring breaks, patients may suffer from bowel perforations or intestinal fistula. The FDA has indicated that symptoms of a broken ring may include "unexplained or persistent abdominal pain, fever, tenderness at the surgery site or other unusual symptoms."

If you have been implanted with a recalled patch and experience any of these symptoms you should seek immediate medical attention. The FDA has instructed surgeons and hospitals to immediately stop using the patch.
