Veterinary Scrutiny of ProMeris

On December 19, 2006, the Veterinary Medicines section of the EMEA published an ?European Public Assessment Report? (?EPAR?) for the product. In that report, the EMEA identifies ?lethargy and sedation as well as slow and shallow breathing? as ?the most common side effects? associated with the use of the product. The Report also states that the product ?should not be allowed to enter surface water, as it may be harmful for aquatic organisms.? The EPAR also identifies the product as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) and, when handling the product, suggests extra precautions for people who are taking MAOIs such as antidepressants.
