Weil-McLain Commercial Steam Boiler Problems
Although steam heating has generally been displaced by other methods of home or apartment heating in single-unit residential buildings, it still can be found in many multi-unit residential and commercial buildings. Steam heating works by having a large, metal chamber full of water, known as a boiler, heated to high temperatures by oil, natural gas or other fuel. When the water boils, the steam is guided through pipes to radiators throughout the building, which provides heat wherever the radiators are located. Weil-McLain manufactures commercial grade boilers and other components to these systems. Unfortunately for many who have purchased Weil-McLain steam boilers, a defect in their manufacturing causes the boilers to fail.
Weil-McLain Commercial Boiler Failures
Consumers and complex owners have reported that the cast-iron steam boiler have defects in the joined sections of the boiler tank. The sections have cracks in them, letting steam out, and outside air in, reducing pressure in the steam-heating system, and rusting and corroding the spot of the leak. This defect appears to be caused by a lack of quality control during manufacturing, and can be very costly to repair and replace once the boiler fails.
